ETL Systems has announced that its RF equipment is being used in General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada’s Implementation and In-Service Support of the Mercury Global Anchor Segment (MGAS). The MGAS anchor stations – seven anchor stations at three sites across Canada – will communicate with the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellite constellation and link them to existing Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) communications infrastructure. Mercury Global will provide the CAF with assured access to wideband military satellite communications. The CAF will ultimately have access to bandwidth from the nine WGS satellite constellation and utilize three anchor sites located in Eastern, Central and Western Canada. A wide range of ETL’s RF equipment has been used as part of the WGS project, including its highly linear receive matrix system on down links and combining matrix on the uplink. Additionally, ETL’s Alto line amplifiers are being used for both the satellite’s transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) links at the MGAS anchor stations. Living up to its reputation of providing tailor-made solutions, ETL designed the RF parameters of the matrices and amplifiers in order to adhere to strict government specifications. “We were delighted to be chosen by General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada for this exciting project, as this demonstrates the flexibility of our RF equipment to meet stringent government demands,” said Susan Saadat, VP of ETL’s North American Office.
