Hughes and Kontron collaborate to reinvent inflight connectivity

Kontron and Hughes Network Systems are collaborating to enhance in-flight connectivity for airline customers. This leverages Kontron's open IFE&C avionics platforms to deploy the groundbreaking Hughes JUPITER™ powered In-Flight Connectivity services.

The Hughes JUPITER fleet of satellites promises to transform the in-flight experience for passengers across the Americas, and worldwide with partner satellites. By integrating with Kontron's Ace Flight™ Server, Cab-n-Connect™ A201 CWAP, Ace Flight™ 4783 Dual Modem Manager (MODMAN), and other products from Kontron, Hughes can provide best of class IFE&C solutions to the airlines and aims to deliver seamless connectivity that meets the evolving demands of modern travelers.

This collaboration between Hughes and Kontron represents a significant advancement in satellite communications and availability of these proven platforms in the commercial avionics sector for the airlines. The integration of the JUPITER 3 modem into Kontron's Ace Flight 4783 MODMAN is a testament to the  shared commitment to innovation and ability to respond to the evolving needs of the aviation industry. This synergy not only enhances Kontron's ever growing MODMAN connectivity platforms but also aligns with the Seamless Alliance's initiatives to provide the airlines with open platforms hosting these next generation solutions. The combined efforts of Hughes and Kontron are set to provide a compelling solution in the market, offering sophisticated systems that aim to reduce long-term costs for airlines while enhancing the passenger experience.

“We work tirelessly to provide our airline customers with fast, flexible, and reliable Wi-Fi onboard,” stated Reza Rasoulian, Senior Vice President of the Aviation Business Unit at Hughes. “We are continuously looking for innovative technologies and collaborative partners to execute our mission of delivering world class connectivity to airlines worldwide, creating frictionless experiences that delight passengers” Added Rasoulian.

"With Hughes and Kontron at the forefront of innovation, the future of in-flight connectivity has never looked brighter," explains Tony Squeglia, Business Development Director at Kontron.
