neXat selected to support growing demand for satcoms across EU

Leading Belgian technology services provider neXat has been appointed to a European Union consortium set up to provide infrastructure to support greater satellite communications capacity for governments across the continent.

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) awarded GMV the contract to lead a consortium that will provide the design, development, and deployment of the GOVSATCOM Hub, a key element of the European Union's GOVSATCOM programme.

Fundamental to the GOVSATCOM architecture is the GOVSATCOM Hub which will ensure the optimal delivery of satcom services to meet the operational demands of EU Member States. The GOVSATCOM Hub will manage the communication requirements of EU governmental entities and respond to dynamic and urgent needs arising from unforeseen scenarios.

"neXat’s participation in the GMV-led Consortium for the development of the GOVSATCOM Hub is the crowning achievement of more than 10 years of technology developments driven by the operational reality of the rapidly changing satcom market in the last 15 years”, said neXat CTO Fulvio Sansone. “At neXat, we strive for innovation and technology excellence within the constraints imposed by the market on a small European company. We look forward to the next phases of the GOVSATCOM Hub project where we will be able to further contribute our market-driven technology toward the needs of governmental users".

As part of the team, neXat will provide one of the core components of the Business Support System of the Hub to be used for the provision of initial services, demonstrating neXat’s ability to provide innovative and reliable satellite solutions.

neXat’s contributions are based on its own developed platform, developed since 2011 for the company’s own civilian satellite connectivity services. This foundation is enriched by years of real-world operational experience and customer feedback, resulting in a unique blend of technological innovation and practical, market-driven tools.

The three-year contract awarded to the GMV-led consortium, with a total ceiling budget of €107 million, will see neXat contributing significantly to GOVSATCOM, one of the five main components of the European Union’s Space Programme. GOVSATCOM aims to provide secure and cost-efficient satellite communication services to authorised governmental users across EU Member States. These services will be critical for various scenarios including crisis management, border and maritime surveillance, critical infrastructure management, and security in polar regions.

neXat’s involvement in this project underscores its leading role in the satcom industry, and its platform’s selection reaffirms the company’s position as a key player in delivering secure and efficient communication solutions for the European Union.
